CANstructon Reno: Art You CAN eat (well…almost)
Built from cans. Powered by creativity.

CANstruction Reno will return for its 24th year in Spring 2027.
Stay in the Loop for 2027
Each year, local students, businesses, architects, engineers, builders, and community members come together to transform thousands of cans into larger-than-life structures that inspire the community and help feed our neighbors.
What starts as creativity becomes something much bigger. Every structure is built entirely from canned food that’s donated after the event to support the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and the more than 150,000 neighbors we serve each month.
CANstruction Reno is presented in partnership with the American Institute of Architects Northern Nevada (AIANN), bringing together creativity, design, engineering, and community impact to help feed our neighbors.
What is CANstruction?
CANstruction Reno is a community design and build competition where teams create imaginative structures entirely out of canned food.
From local landmarks and pop culture icons to animals, vehicles, and original creations, teams spend months planning and designing their builds before bringing them to life during build day at Meadowood Mall.
The event blends art, engineering, teamwork, problem-solving, and community impact into one unforgettable experience.
And once the event’s over, every can goes on to help provide meals for children, families, and seniors across northern Nevada and the eastern California Sierra.
Bold. Creative. Unexpected.
And all built with purpose.
A Look Back at 2026
CANstruction Reno 2026 brought together incredible teams from across our community to create more than 29,000 cans worth of creativity and impact.
This year also marked our biggest People’s Choice voting year yet, with the community showing up in a big way to support their favorite builds.

3 Ways to Get Involved. 1 Incredible Impact.
Whether you want to build, support, or help bring designs to life, there’s a place for you in CANstruction Reno.
Create a Team
Gather coworkers, classmates, friends, or community members and take on the challenge together.
Teams design and build large-scale structures entirely from canned food while raising awareness and helping provide meals for our neighbors.
No previous experience is required. Just creativity, collaboration, and a willingness to build something meaningful together.
Support a Team as a Design Professional
Architects, engineers, contractors, builders, and design professionals play an important role in helping teams bring their ideas to life.
Design professionals help guide structures through the planning and building process, offering expertise that helps teams create builds that are both imaginative and structurally sound.
It’s a unique opportunity to mentor, collaborate, and inspire creativity in the next generation.
