Become a Partner

The Food Bank of Northern Nevada is proud to partner with a network of community organizations taking on the fight against hunger.

Would you like to join us as a partner in hunger relief efforts in northern Nevada and eastern California? If your organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the capability to store and distribute food or provide other hunger-related services, you could be the ideal partner we are looking for—especially in underserved communities within our service area.

Our partner agencies play a crucial role in their communities, directly distributing food to those in need. The Food Bank of Northern Nevada offers partner agencies access to low- and no-cost food for distribution to neighbors. We also provide technical assistance and training to ensure your program meets food safety standards and delivers fair and equitable service. Read on to discover our partner requirements and valuable tips for launching a food program.

It’s also important to explore collaborations with existing food distribution agencies in your community. Supporting them through volunteer efforts or financial contributions to expand their service hours or reach may be another option to consider.

Requirements

  • Be recognized as 501(c)(3) charitable entities by the IRS, or be affiliated with a 501(c)(3) umbrella organization. Churches may qualify if they meet IRS criteria.
  • Services must be provided directly and free of charge, with no requirement to participate in religious or other services.
  • Potential partners must run a food resource program, such as a food pantry, soup kitchen, or shelter, to be eligible.
  • It is essential that your facility is equipped to safely handle and distribute food to those in need.
  • Partners must maintain a record-keeping system that complies with the Food Bank’s reporting requirements to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • A food-handlers certification or appropriate license is required to ensure that all food distributed meets safety standards.
  • We recommend that organizations seeking partnership should have been operating their food program for at least six months before applying, to demonstrate stability and effectiveness.

To get started

Email Marina Packee and include organization name, contact information, mailing and physical address, and hours of operation. (Your service area will be reviewed for unmet needs. If area is underserved, an application packet will be mailed.)

Mail completed request for partnership to:

Food Bank of Northern Nevada – Attn: Agency Relations (a completed packet must be approved prior to the first site visit)
