A Plateful of Heroes.

Nutrition Education

To help battle health problems such as childhood obesity that can be caused by poor diet, the Food Bank started the Nutrition Education program.

“Food Smarts” is a two-part program of hands-on cooking and nutrition classes for children attending after-school programs in schools offering the Kids Cafe program.  Children learn about good nutrition, easy-to-fix snacks, physical exercise, hygiene and healthy living.

“Smart Shopper” classes for teenagers and adults who are eligible for USDA food stamps explore good nutrition on a budget, exercise, food-safety and healthy recipes.
