Commodity Supplemental Food Program
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) is a federal nutrition program of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada that works to improve the health of low-income pregnant and breastfeeding women, other new mothers up to one year postpartum, infants, children up to age six, and elderly people age 60 years and older. Participants receive a free monthly box of supplemental food. CSFP is administered by the Nevada State Department of Administration, Purchasing Division, Food Distribution Program.
Who is eligible:
- Adults age 60 or older
- Pregnant women
- Mothers within one year of giving birth
- Breastfeeding mothers
- Infants and children up to age 6
- WIC participants are not eligible
- Income guidelines apply
What is in the food packages?
Each food box contains about 30 pounds of canned meat, vegetables, fruit, cereal, pasta or rice or potatoes, evaporated or dry milk, dry beans or peanut butter and cheese. Infants will receive formula and/or juice, depending on the child’s age.
If you are interested in participating in the CSFP Program, you may be asked to provide the following:
- WIC Referral form
- Birth certificate
- Proof of residency
- Current documentation from Public Assistance agencies
- You will also have to meet the CSFP Income Guidelines
