Food Distribution

The Food Bank of Northern Nevada is the central food distribution warehouse facility for a network of more than 110 hunger-relief agencies and other non-profits throughout northern Nevada and the eastern California Sierra.  View a Listing of our Partner Agencies here.

Roughly half of our partner agencies are local food pantries where individuals can get a bag of groceries and other emergency food assistance close to their own neighborhoods. For its part, the Food Bank of Northern Nevada is also making sure partner agencies are sustainable by procuring and providing equipment so these agencies are better able to provide nutritious food.  The Food Bank has secured grant funds from three different sources to date, totaling over $363,000 in order to equip our partner agencies with commercial refrigerators and freezers, computers, fax machines, shelving and other necessities for ordering and distributing product.

In addition to these grants, the Food Bank also hosts annual agency conferences and has ongoing workshops on fundraising, food stamp outreach, sanitation training and supply chain management.  Over the last ten years, we have seen 80% of our partner agencies participate in the capacity building programs.  “Providing this training made sense to us from the very beginning,” said Cherie Jamason, President and CEO.  “If we can ensure that our partners are successful, then we are successful, and in turn, our shared programs are sustainable.”

Food pantries are open to help on different days of the week and at various times during those days. Please refer to our Local Food Pantries for the Reno-Sparks pantry nearest you.
