Hunger in America 2006

In 2005, Food Bank of Northern Nevada volunteers, board and staff members interviewed 283 clients of partner agencies, primarily emergency food pantries, and CSFP participants, as part of the nationwide Hunger in America 2006 study. Some significant findings, both national and local relevant to the Food Bank, are detailed below.

Hunger in America 2006, based on 52,000 face-to-face interviews with people seeking emergency food assistance and more than 30,000 agency surveys in 2005, is the largest, most comprehensive study ever conducted on domestic hunger. The study was commissioned by the America's Second Harvest Network and sponsored by Altria. The national findings of the study and details of methodology by Mathematica Policy Research, Inc., can be viewed at www.hungerinamerica.org.
