Food Bank authorized to conduct Food Stamp application interviews
The Food Bank of Northern Nevada has recently been approved as a "Trusted Partner" by the Nevada Division of Welfare and Social Services. This special status serves as a waiver to allow the Food Bank's Stamp Outreach staff to conduct food stamp application interviews with potential clients. Food Stamps generate economic activity in our local communities
The Food Stamp Program brings federal dollars into communities in the form of benefits which are redeemed by food stamp participants at local grocery stores. These benefits ripple throughout the economies of the community, state and nation. The Food Bank helps people in need apply for food stamps.

Every additional dollar's worth of food stamp benefits generates 17 to 47 cents of new spending on food.

On average, $1 billion of retail food demand by food stamp recipients generates 3,300 farm jobs.

The process for applying for Food Stamps can be tedious and time consuming. This new program offers a computer-based community access to the Food Stamp Program while offering a sense of confidentiality to the application process. The kiosks allow clients the ability to file an application for food stamps in the convenience of their local grocery stores while shopping or after normal business hours.
