The Glenn Group’s Resolution-A-Thon Donation to Feed Hundreds of Hungry Children in Nevada

Who says New Year’s resolutions never work? This year The Glenn Group stuck to its resolution to raise money for hungry kids in Nevada and earned $20,646 for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. Over 200 individuals and businesses nationwide contributed to the Resolution-A-Thon.
The money will be used for the organization’s Back-Pack Program, which provides a bag of kid-friendly, shelf-stable foods to children who lack adequate food over the weekend. Over a 10- month period, the Back-Pack program delivered 12,185 backpack bags of food to 19 different Washoe County schools that participate in the program.
The Glenn Group, a Nevada-based marketing communications firm, launched its innovative Resolution-A-Thon campaign in January, which asked employees to identify a resolution and solicit donations from friends and family for completing it by March 1. The Glenn Group staff engaged in a variety of unique resolutions, including running the length of Lake Tahoe during lunch breaks, doing something new every day, giving up guilty pleasures and wearing a Mohawk and gold chains for a month.
“Community giving is one of our company’s core values and our team really embraced the Resolution-A-Thon and tackled their resolutions with great enthusiasm,” said Valerie Glenn, president and CEO of The Glenn Group. “I’m overwhelmed by the support from our community, especially in this challenging economic climate. Our success surpassed even my high expectations.”
The Resolution-A-Thon allowed The Glenn Group to implement a number of creative strategies to get the word out. They sent handmade direct mail pieces, created YouTube videos, distributed email blasts and designed the ‘Great Resolution-A-Thon’ website. By focusing primarily on web efforts, The Glenn Group made it easy for people to support the variety of resolutions members of their team committed too. To further demonstrate its commitment to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, The Glenn Group wanted to do more than give money. As part of its donation presentation to the organization, the entire staff of The Glenn Group and some Resolution-A-Thon donors volunteered to stuff backpacks and learned more about the hunger crisis in northern Nevada.
“The Glenn Group has shown that the most creative fundraising efforts can truly have the largest impact,” said Doris Phelps, marketing director of Food Bank of Northern Nevada, “We truly appreciate their generous support for our children’s nutrition programs.”
While The Glenn Group has raised more than $20,000 for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, the combined efforts of both the Reno and Las Vegas offices have raised $31,905 statewide.
