For the 17th year KTVN Channel 2 has held a one day food drive throughout the region that benefits the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. This year’s event was on Friday, December 11 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The weather was cold and there was quite a bit of snow that fell but the warm reception that the Food Bank received from the communities of Reno, Sparks, Carson City and Minden was staggering. Over 150,500 lbs of food was received during the day, to help feed the hungry in our region. Companies and individuals came out all throughout the day to contribute to the drive.
Each year, the staff of Channel 2 demonstrates their dedication and commitment to the mission of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada to an unbelievable degree. This year is no exception. The meals that will be provided because of their efforts will make a significant difference in the lives of the people that need them and we are truly grateful for this.
In addition to the donations from the community, the other champions of the day were AIANN, Americom Broadcasting, Grand Sierra Resort, Governor’s Mansion, Carson Valley Inn, The Summit, Scolari’s on Disc Drive, Somersett, Champagne Family Dentistry, Camelot Rentals, Sierra RV, Reno Rodeo Foundation, Bright Productions and Back of the House Cooking School.
